Patrice Maniglier explains why the gesture that resulted in the creation of Les Temps Modernes after the Second World War can and must be reinstantiated today. It must no longer be accomplished, however, in the name of this open totalization that History was according to Sartre, but in the name of this other figure of totalization which is the irruption of the Terrestrial, on which the very idea of Modernity comes up against.
