Anaïs Berck is een onderzoeksgericht kunstproject. In de loop der jaren evolueerde het project van werken met databases over bomen naar samenwerkingen met levende bomen. De volgende bomen zijn getuigen van dit proces.

2026, Linde, parking, Louvain-La-Neuve
Ik ben een lindeboom. Ik leef op de parkeerplaats van de Faculteit Bio-ingenieurswetenschappen in Louvain-la-Neuve (BE). Van april 2026 tot januari 2027 neem ik deel aan het artistieke onderzoeksproject en de installatie ‘ROOTS’ (Revealing Opaque Organic and Technological Systems), met steun van UCLouvain Culture.

I am a majestic Black Walnut, protected by humans, living in the garden of GC Wabo in Boitsfort-Bosvoorde (BE). From October 2025 till April 2027 I’m participating in the reflection project Authorrights for Trees, with the support of Vlaamse Overheid - Kunsten.

2026, Hornbeam, Sonian Forest
I’m a Hornbeam living in a protected part of the Sonian Forest in Brussels (BE). From 2017 till 2025 I collaborated on the creation of the novel Reports from the Forest, launched on 14 June 2026. With the support of Vlaamse Overheid - Kunsten.

2025, Grove Den, natuurreservaat De Liereman
Ik ben een Grove Den die in Landschap De Liereman boven Antwerpen (BE) leeft. Van oktober 2024 tot november 2025 nam ik deel aan het artistieke onderzoeksproject en installatie ‘Boomtijden’. Met de steun van de Vlaamse Overheid Kunsten.

2024, Gatekeeper, Gulden Bodem, Arnhem
I am a Chestnut Tree, 375 years old, living in Gulden Bodem, a city park in Arnhem (NL). Locals call me one of the tree Gatekeepers. From June 2024 till December 2024 I participated in the artistic research project and installation Arnhem Trees Tell, thanks to the support of municipality of Arnhem.

I am a Purple Plum living in Calle de las Huertas 45 in the neighbourhood of las Letras in Madrid (ES). I am a Eucalyptus, living in the imaginary world of Julio Cortázar’s short story Fama y Eucalipto, published as part of the short story collection ‘Historias de Cronopios y de Famas’. In 2020 I was part of the publication experiment around the algorithm Levenhstein Distance, realized with the support of Tabakalera in Donostia/San Sebastián (ES).
