CMS

A content management system (CMS) is a computer software used to manage the creation and modification of digital content (content management).

CSS

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used for specifying the presentation and styling of a document written in a markup language such as HTML or XML (including XML dialects such as SVG, MathML or XHTML). CSS is a cornerstone technology of the World Wide Web, alongside HTML and JavaScript.

CSS print

CSS print refers to all CSS rules applied specifically to printing, allowing the formatting of a web page to be adapted when it is rendered in PDF format.

CSV

Comma-separated values (CSV) is a plain text data format for storing tabular data where the fields (values) of a record are separated by a comma and each record is a line (i.e. newline separated). CSV is commonly-used in software that generally deals with tabular data such as a database or a spreadsheet.

EPUB

EPUB est un format ouvert standardisé pour les livres numériques et proposé par l’International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF). Il permet la représentation, l’empaquetage et l’encodage de contenus Web sémantiques et structurés afin de les distribuer en tant qu’un seul fichier ou publication EPUB[1]. Il est fondé sur le XML.

Free culture

The free-culture movement is a social movement that promotes the freedom to distribute and modify the creative works of others in the form of free content, otherwise known as open content. They encourage creators to create such content by using permissive and share-alike licensing, like that used on Wikipedia. Additionally, some free culture advocates support piracy.

HTML

Le HyperText Markup Language, généralement abrégé HTML ou, dans sa dernière version, HTML5, est le langage de balisage conçu pour écrire les pages web. Il s’agit d’un format ouvert très utilisé en informatique. Comme son nom l’indique, HTML permet d’écrire de l’hypertexte.

Latex

LaTeX est un langage et un système de composition de documents. Il peut servir a écrire des textes pour écrire des livres. Il s’agit d’une collection de macrocommandes destinée à faciliter l’utilisation du « processeur de texte » TeX de Donald Knuth.

Markdown

Markdown est un langage de balisage léger créé en 2004 par John Gruber, avec l’aide d’Aaron Swartz, avec l’objectif d’offrir une syntaxe, facile à lire et à écrire, en l’état, sans formatage.

Multi-format publication

Multi-format publication is the practice of creating content once (single source publishing) and publishing it in multiple output formats—such as web pages, PDF, EPUB, print, or mobile—using a shared source and adaptable styling or templates.

Open source

The term open source refers to software whose source code is freely accessible and can be modified and redistributed. The open source model is a decentralised software development model that encourages open collaboration.

PHP

PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, plus connu sous son sigle PHP, est un langage de programmation libre, développé le 8 juin 1995 principalement utilisé pour produire des pages Web dynamiques via un serveur web, mais pouvant également fonctionner comme n’importe quel langage interprété de façon locale.

Python

Python is a high-level, general-purpose programming language. Its design philosophy emphasizes code readability with the use of significant indentation.[34] Python is dynamically type-checked and garbage-collected. It supports multiple programming paradigms, including structured (particularly procedural), object-oriented and functional programming.

Repository

A software repository, or repo for short, is a storage location for software packages. Often a table of contents is also stored, along with metadata. A software repository is typically managed by source or version control, or repository managers. Package managers allow automatically installing and updating repositories, sometimes called « packages ».

Single source publishing

Single-source publishing is a content management method which allows the same source content to be used across different forms of media and more than one time (Website, book, Epub…).

SVG

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is an XML-based vector graphics format for defining two-dimensional graphics, having support for interactivity and animation. The SVG specification is an open standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium since 1999.

Versioning

Practice that allows multiple people to write content and easily modify what has already been written. This has the advantage of offering numerous opportunities for intervention and response, thereby promoting divergent narratives.
